tips for how to create an al fresco summertime bar cart

Summertime is here, which means we're primed and ready for entertaining outdoors, both in the city and at the beach! We were quoted in a wonderful article by Livingetc on how to create the perfect bar cart vignette and wanted to compile some of our favorite go-to tips here so you're ready for summer months spent outdoors enjoying the season.

A large yard or porch aren't necessary when planning your outdoor bar space; a cozy vignette like a lanai, courtyard, or garden patch will do just fine! Thoughtful elements will set the tone for creating a welcoming and beautiful space that's also low-maintenance (hello, more time for beach time!). Don't have a formal bar cart? Outdoor furniture like a wooden garden cart or potting shelf would do the trick.

These elements are must-haves on constant rotation in our repertoire:

-Rattan glasses and trays - rattan makes for a beautiful aesthetic as well as non-slip glass wraps for summery iced teas and cocktails

-Linen hemstitch cocktail napkins - a toss in the wash and quick iron means you can use them all summer long

-Low-scent citronella candles - an important element not to be skipped if your garden space is prone to mosquitos

-Outdoor pillows and blankets - some favorite brands of ours are ChappyWrap and Pottery Barn

-Striped umbrellas - the perfect way to punch your space with color

-An outdoor speaker - blue tooth + portable are the way to go for piping in the perfect outdoor play list
