valley & co. entertaining :: backyard summer dinner party

Summer is officially here, and we couldn't be happier to see blue skies and our garden blooming! One of our favorite places to be (aside from the beach) is in our backyard enjoying our hydrangeas, playing in the sprinkler, and just being together with our kids. Add in a pretty table and that's a recipe for a memorable summer party!

Here are our Top 3 Tips for Creating and Effortless Summer Tabletop:

  1. Layer textures and patterns! Start with a striped linen and add in wicker chargers, scalloped coasters, rattan glassware, and funky plates and napkins.
  2. Use clippings from your garden! As much as I love heading to the flower market and buying up every summery bloom for our events, entertaining at home means keeping things simple. Clip greenery or stems from your own garden and show them off in simple canning jars or glasses.
  3. Keep things within arm's reach! Stage a table nearby that hosts big pitchers of water or a specialty cocktail so you won't have the head inside to the kitchen. Use this table to hold platters of appetizers and desserts!
