Our windows are finally open to sunlight beaming in most mornings in Seattle. Spring has officially settled in, which means it’s time to enjoy the season and to also refresh favorite nooks in our home. We stow away our plaid pillows of winter and fold up the heavier throws, pulling out lighter fabrics and colors that make our home feel nice and airy, and we most always have fresh tulips from our neighborhood market on the mantel.
When registering for your wedding, we suggest choosing a number of items that can be easily added to a space for a “freshen up” with the seasons. This can be with vibrant pillow covers, throws, vases, and storage solutions that are stylish.
Here are three ways we spruced up for spring, along with our registry must-haves for the season:
- Our entry room – the first room in our home that guests see, this room is light and airy and hosts Aleah’s great-grandmother’s 100+ year-old piano, a white Pottery Barn York Slope sofa, a leather PB recliner, and book shelves. We stored darker plaid pillows from winter and opted for these Indigo Kiptyn Embroidered pillows – fresh and subtly nautical – just our style! To get us feeling in the summery mood, this Faux Potted Lemon Tree is the perfect bright accent to our entry! A floor lamp is most always a good idea for a reading nook, and the Chelsea Adjustable Floor Lamp (our is in a bronze finish with a flax shade) makes the corner feel complete. Finally, whenever we have company over (which is fairly frequently), we love to welcome them with a little beverage station. Between Easter and all of our birthday holidays in the spring, a charming, yet simple, tray with pretty glasses and a simple flower arrangement is perfect!
2. A downstairs bath – with bright white stone flooring and light aqua glass tiles, we love how fresh this bathroom feels, but also were excited to finish off the space with extra storage and a pop of cheerful color and patterns. We achieved this by anchoring PB’s Marble Top Sundry in the corner and it’s now filled with guest essentials. The Marlo shower curtain in navy is the perfect finishing touch, giving us that nod to nautical we love and really brightening up the space. Fresh flowers can really make any mantel, book shelf, kitchen, nightstand, or powder room feel alive – most times of the year we keep a few spaces filled with fresh blooms.
3. Our laundry room – this room is constantly in use, and we needed a storage solution that would act as a catch-all for detergents, cleaning products, extra bath towels, and ironing accessories. Often overlooked, we were so excited to see how a few essentials really transformed the space that now feels quite nice and complete! The first order of business was hanging our ironing board with the Ironing Board Hangar (brilliant!) and covering our board with the sailor blue stripes cover (instant transformation!). We added faux peonies in pink and white – which really livened up the laundry room. It feels so much cheerier in there! Our new laundry catch-all is this awesome beachcomber basket – we may order another for our upstairs floor pillows! Coordinating low beachcomber baskets are now perched on our laundry shelf, making storage, folding, and essentials easier to achieve and all within arm’s reach.
