This past week Seattle got a heavy dose of snow and ice, with more on the way. Just in time for a cozy Valentine’s Day! When Valentine’s Day comes around it signals the ultimate engagement season, and the perfect day to celebrate love, friendship, or just yourself! We gathered to create a beautiful and delicious Valentine’s Day sweets and dinner party, complete with our favorite heirloom picks from Pottery Barn Registry – items that we love and will prove versatile and beautiful for years.
Some of favorite picks are laid out below, along with entertaining and wedding ideas that are perfectly romantic!
With engagements follows an engagement party, and registry, and the fun of getting started on planning!
-Take things one step at a time, and work with your friends or family to throw a chic engagement party that feels like you, and one that’s seasonal. Make a guest list that’s intentional and choose what kind of wedding engagement party you’d like to have – an intimate dinner party for 6? A larger desserts-and-cocktails party for 40?
-Dress up a table with decadent (yet easy to pick up from your local patisserie, or even from your grocery store!) dessert bites and charcuterie (tasty meats) paired with your favorite cheeses. Add fun snacks like popcorn in Harrison Snack Bowls to make things feel especially decadent.
–Stack macarons and tarts on our favorite Marble and Pewter Tiered Stand and use them as part of the table top centerpieces. Lovely and fun, and also makes for easy grazing and conversation!
–Create a table that has the formality of a dinner party with a full setting of flatware and glasses, and stack festive seasonal plates on top of crisp white china. Top with a burst of color that will tie everything together, like these Red Wheaton Napkins. Don’t they look so festive with the Heart Shaped Plates? We love incorporating holiday or seasonal elements with traditional components – it feels fresh and creative and also memorable and makes the environment feel more lighthearted.
-Incorporate timeless elements like this Antique Silver Cheese Tray, a must-have registry item that can be used for any occasion, formal or ultra casual. Marble Cheese Knives are our new go-to hostess gift and look quite fanciful on a table top or cheese board.
–Create an impressive centerpiece with store-bought tulips en masse nestled in another must-have favorite, The Healdsburg Bowl. We’re all about having versatile entertaining pieces in our home, ones that we can use in wedding designs (imagine three of these big and beautiful bowls filled with citrus, floating candles, or an over sized summertime floral arrangement!), and these bowls are it!
Using a handful of pro tricks will help you to create an intentional registry with pieces you can use in your engagement party, your next hosted gallery, and even on your wedding day. Finding a great balance of mixed items that represents tradition and everyday pieces will help you round out your registry picks.
