At Home on the Water
Mollie and Aaron were one of the absolute sweetest and most gracious couples we’ve ever worked with (truly), entrusting each and every detail to us and allowing us to surprise them with so many beautiful details and experiences on their big day. Mollie calls Texas her home state and Aaron is from Washington, so we worked hard to incorporate fun nods to both – from the spicy margarita during cocktail hour to the fresh oyster bar, both were represented and told the story of Mollie and Aaron perfectly. The wedding took place on the gorgeous ocean front farm where Aaron grew up, and we foraged for fresh apple blossoms the morning of the wedding to incorporate into our centerpieces. We also scoured the beach for long driftwood that La Happy Designs calligraphed with the elegant table numbers. We surprised them with stunning embroidered hemstitch napkins for the place settings with their monogram.
The guest experience was important to the bride and groom, and we always love a warm welcome, so we invited guests to arrive a little early and greeted them with a glass of bubbly and freshly popped popcorn in paper bags with the ceremony program printed on. This day was a record-setting day, with temperatures nearing 100, so we scooped up fans and passed them out prior to guests sitting down. This made for a huge logistical challenge to keep the catering prep cool, our flowers fresh, and the guests comfortable, but we pulled out all of the stops to ensure everyone was happy and the heat wasn’t an issue!
The intimate ceremony overlooked the calm sea and the evening was warm, celebratory, and just lovely. A Texas-meets-Pacific Northwest feast delighted guests for dinner (the dirty corn recipe from Lisa Dupar Catering is now highly coveted!), and guests danced the night away to the 7-piece Chris Friel Orchestra. It was pure magic and we thank Mollie and Aaron for inviting us to be part of it!
